Avril Lavigne Essay

Avril Lavigne is one of the most famous singers in the world. She gives the Canadian Music industry such a great honour and fame because of her talents, and her music. Avril Lavigne is not only one of my favourite singers, but she is one of the most popular singers for teens. She has lead a talented life and has lead a contribution to the world of music, and inspiration to other Canadians.

Avril Ramona Lavigne Whitbley was born on September 27, 1984. She was born in Belleville Ontario, then moved to a small town called Napanee at the age of five and grew up there. She came from a French family, but she doesn’t know how to speak French. She grew up as a tomboy, where her hobbies were skateboarding, drinking, hanging out with the guys, and playing baseball and hockey. Her other favourite hobby is singing. Her mother discovered her singing talent when she sang along to Christian music. Her family were Christians, so she sang in the Gospel Choir at the local church and she taught herself how to play the guitar. She was discovered by her professional manager Cliff Fabri while singing country covers at a local bookstore. At the age of sixteen, she was signed by Ken Krongard to sing in a studio in New York City.

Her music genre is more Modern rock, Pop rock, Punk pop, Post grunge and Alternative rock. Let Go was her first album, which was released on June 24, 2002 reaching #1 in Canada. She described her first album to be a pop album “with a couple of rock songs in it”. After one month of it’s release, Let Go reached multi-platinum, then reached triple-platinum two weeks later. It sold over fifteen million copies worldwide on December 24. She was named “Best New Artist” at the 2002 MTV Music Awards, won four Junos in 2003, a World Music Award for “Best Selling Canadian Singer” and was nominated eight Grammys.

Her second album, Under My Skin was released on May 25, 2004, which also reached #1 in Canada. Avril Lavigne co-wrote most of the album with Canadian singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk. Lavigne won two World Music Awards in 2004 for “World’s Best Selling Canadian Artist” and “World’s Best Pop/Rock Artist”. She received five Junos in 2005 including “Fan Choice Award”, “Artist of the Year”, and “Pop Album of the Year”. She also won an award for “Favourite Female Artist” at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards. Avril Lavigne co-wrote the song “Breakaway” which was recorded by Kelly Clarkson for the soundtrack of the movie Princess Diaries 2 which was then later included in Kelly’s second album.

Her third album, The Best Damn Thing was released on April 17, 2007. Lavinges band members are: lead guitarist Devin Bronson, rhythm guitarist Craig Wood, bass guitarist Charlie Moniz, and Drum mist Matt Brann. She listed some of her current favourite bands were Blink182, Sum41, Green Day, and System of a Down. On February 24, she began dating Canadian band Sum41 lead singer and guitarist Deryck Whibley. On June 27, 2005, they became engaged to be married. On July 15, 2006, they got married.

Avril has helped a lot in Canadian Heritage. A lot of people want to be famous and are working hard on their dreams because of her. A lot of people my age or any age now want to become famous and live life in their own way. People also had their own thoughts about her and she didn’t let them affect her career or anything. In my opinion, she has an amazing talent. You can relate her music to real life and you will always remember it.

Avril Lavigne is a wonderful Canadian who has made a huge impact on Canadian Heritage. She discovered her singing talent even when she was a baby and was discovered at such a young age to sing and become famous. She has also co-written some songs for other singers in the past, like Miranda Cosgrove and Kelly Clarkson. She has won many awards, including Junos and Grammys because of her talent as a singer. Avril Lavigne influenced other Canadians like me to be who you are. Like what she said one time: “why should I care about what other people think of me? I am who I am, and I am who I want to be.”
